Our submission deadline for the 2020 issue is December 15, 2019.

Submissions should be sent to and must adhere to to the following guidelines.


Please enter the genre of your submission type followed by the title or titles of your work in the e-mail subject line (ie. [FICTION] "Title," "Second Title.").

Text should be in a standard font type (ie. Times New Roman or Cambria/Calibri), and preferably size 12. Please format poetry and prose as a .docx and omit both your name and contact information from the document before you submit. Please format visual art as a high resolution file type. If submitting more than one piece for consideration, please begin each new piece on a new page.

PROSE The maximum length for prose submissions is 2500 words, with a two submission maximum.

POETRY The maximum number of poems is five, or ten pages (whatever you get to first!).

VISUAL ART The maximum number of visual works is three.

We consider simultaneous submissions; just give us a heads-up if another publication accepts your work.


Echolocation strives to be a literary space that is as open and accessible as possible to all peoples, expressions, and forms.  

We are a Toronto-based publication seeking to empower and publish voices from Canada/Turtle Island first and especially encourage submissions from all our diverse and intersecting cultures and communities. 

We refuse to publish and will challenge expressions of ignorance or hate. 

All editors read submissions blind.
